Posted November 24, 2018 07:58:58A Winnipeg man has been charged with multiple sexual offences after being accused of performing a sex act on a woman and a child while performing a circuses show in Winnipeg’s downtown.
Karen McBride, 44, was arrested on Thursday.
Her bail was set at $100,000.
The charges include three counts of second-degree sexual assault, one count of forcible confinement, one of mischief and one count each of indecent assault, forcible touching, voyeurism and voyeuristic interference.
Police were called to the Manitoba Convention Centre on Sunday and discovered a woman who was suffering from pain and a bleeding gash on her upper back.
The woman told police she had been sexually assaulted by the man who was performing at the convention centre and the woman told her husband she wanted to leave the room.
The man then removed the woman’s clothing and tried to sexually assault her, police said.
The wife said the man then ran out of the theatre and told her to call police.
When officers arrived at the theatre, McBride told them she had left her dressing room to go to the back to the dressing room, where she was being held against her will.
Police said the woman was crying and didn’t know what to do.
McBride told police the man was wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a mask and the victim was wearing her own clothing.
McBride was also charged with two counts of breach of recognizance.
She posted $20,000 bail and was remanded into custody.
