By John Burtch/ESPN Staff/ESPN DeportesA surgeon who has treated several NFL players for severe ligament damage was arrested on Friday, police said.
Dale Rocha, 61, of Lake Forest, Florida, was arrested in the parking lot of the University of Florida Hospital after he allegedly refused to provide a report to the police regarding the injuries he sustained during an incident involving two of his patients, police in Florida said in a statement.
The players were being treated for ligament injuries during a game at the University at Buffalo, police added.
The players were not arrested.
A spokesman for the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office told ESPN on Saturday that the department was aware of the arrest.
“We are aware of an arrest of Dale Rochas in Lake Forest Florida.
He is currently being detained by the Miami Dade County Jail,” the statement said.”
The department has not made a report of any criminal activity to the Sheriff’s office regarding this arrest.
The department does not have any additional information to provide at this time.”
Rochas was booked on charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, failure to comply with a court order and resisting an officer without violence.
He was released from the Lake Forest County Jail on Friday after posting $5,000 bond, according to the Miami Herald.
The Miami Dolphins, who play at the Buffalo Bills on Saturday night, released a statement late Friday night saying Rochans arrest is being investigated.
Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase was not available for comment.
