JUDET VIEW POLE, Spain — The Spanish police department has said the death of a man suspected to be the owner and head of a notorious fight ring that involved the pelvis and the head of an alleged victim is being investigated as a possible homicide.
Police said the body of Francisco Javier Moreno, 41, was found on Tuesday at the site of an altercation that was reported at a bar in the northern town of Pelizas.
Authorities have yet to identify the victim, but said the fight took place on June 26 in the city of Brescia, the capital of the Basque Country.
The fight took a violent turn on June 27, when the alleged victim allegedly assaulted Moreno, who was not part of the fight.
Moreno, a local man who had been drinking with his girlfriend, told police that the woman was drunk, that she was in a fight and that the fight escalated when Moreno tried to intervene.
Moreno’s girlfriend said he got in her face, punched her, kicked her in the head and hit her several times.
Moreno was hospitalized after the fight and died a week later.
The man who is suspected of being the owner is Francisco Javier “Judet” Moreno, according to police.
Moreno is also the owner or head of several other fights, according the police report.
